If you’re a boat lover you will be constantly amazed by the number of boat owners who simply smeared some caulking around the frames of the window which are badly leaking. Let’s discuss why is this a suicide for the boat, this silly process can not only make a mess of your valuable boat & it is a complete waste of time.

Finding the point of origin of the leak is difficult. As many boats are so badly designed that no matter what you attempt to fix, you are at some point not able to stop the leaks.

How to find the leak

The window frames are the only thing holding up the flying bridge.

The side decks are weak, and when you walk on them, it pulls the deck and house side away from the window frame.

The frame is not channelized but consists of just the frame and glass clamped against the house side with screws.

The window frames are black and you live in the south.

If you have a boat which is very poorly designed where you notice that the window frames are holding up the bridge, or a very low to side decks & the flexes when you walk on it, it is not like you can stop the leaks on the windows by recaulking. This could be caused because of the poor design of the boat & you could be pretty much stuck with.

If you don’t want to waste the quality time in finding out the leaks which could take hours then simply call for San Diego Boat Repair for immediate help.
